Revit Family properties preview picture upload

I try to set up an image (jpg file) as a preview picture for family properties, so if in a project the family is selected, then the uploaded picture appears on the left side. Is it possible, or can I set only generated view from the model?

If you insert the image into the File and its on a View it can possibly be done but the image shown is set when Saving the file - Save > Options

For me it changes only the thumbnail picture in the file explorer, but in the properties, inside the revit project, or family it doesn't give an uploaded preview picture.

You are correct, I now recall we used a Third Party add-in to change out images!

I found this as a workaround?

The only thing that I have found that works - is to flip the geometry in the Family so that Front is Up instead. For longer lasting results - flip similarly in the Casework template, save as a family, then change the extension from RFA to RFT.

Are you asking about controlling the Preview image that we see to the left of the Type Selector?

The view that is open when you save and close a family is used as the preview.

Fine tune the appearance of that view and make sure it is the only view of the family that is open, save and close.

FWIW, Temporary Hide/Isolate works to hide parts of the family that make it hard to determine what the family is, for example connectors or hosting elements like walls, or a face. Just make sure you use it before saving and closing.

No; it's not possible.
