Revit backward compatibility

Can  I create a family in Revit 2016 at home and import it in Revit 2021 in the office ?

If it is a loadable family, you can use the load family tool.

If it's a system family, you can open the revit project in the same session (ctrl+o) and use copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + v).

It works if it goes from an old version to a new one, but not the other way around, it cannot downgrade.

You can create family in 2016 and open in 2021 at office. However you cannot open 2021 file in 2016.
