Revit 2023.1 Parameter Service malfunctioning - wrong parameters' status and freezing when trying to change the Parameter Group

Hi everyone,

As I am aware that Parameter Service is new option (with potential being very great one in the future) but I am finding it difficult to use due to the problem with proper functioning. I couldn't find any similar topics so I wanted to understand if that's only my problem or it is general problem for everybody because Parameter Service is still in "experimental" phase. If that's the latter option, maybe at least Autodesk will get informed about some technical issues that they can fix in next releases.

Two problems as below:

1. Parameter Service sometimes show wrong status of the parameter. E.g. as in the screenshot "1" it shows that parameter are already in the model (family this time), but when you look at the family you see that those parameters are not there. I couldn't find any workaround, the only one was creating family from the scratch.
I cannot replicate the problem (let's say it appears once every 10-20 families).

2. Parameter Service is freezing when I am trying to change the Group under which parameter should be loaded into the model. This happens every time - look at screenshots "2" and "3". After that I need to restart Parameter Service.

Any clue anybody? Thanks in advance for help!

Hello Professionista. I've started using Parameters Service a couple of weeks ago and found a similar issue. When trying to add some parameters to a family, they are shown as "In Model" even when they are not! In my case I thought it was related with the fact that I have some nested families that are already using these parameters. But I have a similar family where the shared parameters are used both in the main family and in the nested one (can´t remember if i've added the parameters after or before nesting the other family), so I know the parameters can be in the main and nested families at the same time. Do you also have nested families that are using the same parameters you're trying to add?
As for the freezing, I had the same problem but in the ACC side of service. I think it was related to the language settings in Chrome. I was using it in a different computer and  when I came back to mine it worked well.

Did you solve your problem? Any idea of what happened?

Hello again. Tried to remove all the nested families that have the same parameters I want to add to see if this is the problem. Deleted families, purged unused and saved the family with another name. The issue persists. I 've created a new family of the same category and now I can add the parameters I want. Maybe Revit has a "memory" that keeps saying to Parameters Service that those parameters still exists in the family? Are you still dealing with this issue?

I know your post was a while ago but we are still having this issue. The only workaround we have found is to add any parameters before the nested family is loaded. One colleague had success in purging and then clearing his Cache and Journal Logs (however this didn't work for me) which seems to have let Revit realise the parameter was no longer 'In Model' though, maybe you'll be lucky and this will work for you too! Otherwise it looks like you've got to be careful to make sure your parameters are loaded in before your bring in the nested family, because once it's loaded it seems near on impossible to get Revit to realise the parameter is no longer in use or has even been added to the main family! Massive headache and has caused me to have to re-build a few families.

I got a fix from Autodesk on the parameters appearing to be loaded in. To fix this issue you need RevitLookup and then used the SnoopDatabase fixture. Find the name of the parameter that is supposedly already loaded in and right-click select in model. Select okay and 'couldnt find a good view' and then delete it using the red X on the modify tab. This will clear it entirely from the family and then you will be okay to load back in.
