Revit 2018 on Windows 10 Bootcamp Print to PDF text OVERLAP issues...

So I have spent the last week researching a fix for this problem... I am running Revit 2018 on a 5K Mac with Windows 10 installed on Bootcamp.

I am running with the Graphics Chipset AMD Radeon R9 M395X (Bootcamp XG edition by bootcampdrivers.com), because every time I tried to run the Mac Update on the Windows side to get the Bootcamp 6.0 Graphics Drivers Update, my 3 displays would all turn off and refuse to come back online after the download reached about 50-75%.

Everything pretty much works pretty well, (except the COINS plugin I tried installing today still won't load up?) but every time I try to print a sheet to a PDF (Adobe DC, Bullzip, Cutepdf, doPDF, etc...) the font that looked so perfect and readable on my display screen becomes bloated and overlaps itself, looking as if it has scaled its width 300%, both in print preview and the generated PDF... I really am at my wits end with this one, having tried to install the Windows 7-8 visual hotfix (which won't install itself in a Windows 10 environment...) that was said to correct a similar issue in Revit 2017 to no avail... I have also tried all of the resizing options with adjusting the text scaling and resolution to thei... without any success...

Please... if anyone can find a way around this problem please please please let me know.

Thanks.

With IMac Pro, being so new with vega graphics, there is no previous driver
version.

Our office has been experiencing this issue since the new AMD driver was released last November.  So far we have been able to solve the issue, as others on this post have, by rolling back the AMD GPU driver to the 15.201 release.  Alternately, we have also solved it by running Windows 10 through Parallels, rather than Bootcamp.  (These iMacs are all running the AMD Radeon R9 M295X or M395X GPU and Windows 10 Pro)

However, with the upgraded GPUs in the new iMacs (Radeon Pro 580 w/ 8GB VRAM), there is not the option to roll the driver back, as the 2015 version is incompatible.  We have not tried Parallels yet with this GPU; however, as it stands, we don't have a solution to be able to PDF out of Revit with these newer machines using Bootcamp.

Any help / insights would be most appreciated!  Thanks!

**UPDATE** We did find one solution for the Radeon Pro 580:

Uninstalling the 17.10 AMD GPU driver causes Windows to auto-update to a 2016 AMD driver named: 67DF:C0, dated: 11/21/2016, version: 21.19.137.514, which allows for correct text scaling when PDFing from Revit.  Others in our office have had this driver installed before and complained of slow performance issues with it, so we will see if it's use is acceptable; however, it does fix the text scaling issue when PDFing.

My issue has been resolved, I arrived one day and the problem resolved
itself.

Try updating every Autodesk product, all windows updates and all mac
updates.

Best of Luck.

Hi @Anonymous

Please make a separate post for your issue and paste the link here and we will follow up from there.

As the first step, make sure your system requirements are configured to run Revit 2019.

Thanks,

Nothing works as of now.

I have the same problem in 2017 and all due to graphic cards driver update and I can't roll back anymore.

Printing is still one of the weakest point of Revit.

I guess I have to wait that some day it will get resolved by  itself.

The only way to fix this was to disable the driver in windows for the vega
pro display adapter.

Thanks Andrew, we have been trying so hard to fix this issue without avail!

When you disable the driver, what version do you replace it with?

There is only one published version of the driver so disableing the driver sets the adapter to default windows display device , which works for us .

hi Community,

If you are seeing similar issues on Print to PDF text please create a separate post for clarity.

Also, make sure you mention the below details:

1) if the text shrinks or overlaps

2) windows version

3) if the issue is with a specific font/ user/ model

4) Revit version and if updates installed for Revit version

5) screenshots and screencasts to demonstrate what you are experiencing

6) multiple monitor setup

7) monitor resolution

Regards,
