Revit 2018 on Windows 10 Bootcamp Print to PDF text OVERLAP issues...

So I have spent the last week researching a fix for this problem... I am running Revit 2018 on a 5K Mac with Windows 10 installed on Bootcamp.

I am running with the Graphics Chipset AMD Radeon R9 M395X (Bootcamp XG edition by bootcampdrivers.com), because every time I tried to run the Mac Update on the Windows side to get the Bootcamp 6.0 Graphics Drivers Update, my 3 displays would all turn off and refuse to come back online after the download reached about 50-75%.

Everything pretty much works pretty well, (except the COINS plugin I tried installing today still won't load up?) but every time I try to print a sheet to a PDF (Adobe DC, Bullzip, Cutepdf, doPDF, etc...) the font that looked so perfect and readable on my display screen becomes bloated and overlaps itself, looking as if it has scaled its width 300%, both in print preview and the generated PDF... I really am at my wits end with this one, having tried to install the Windows 7-8 visual hotfix (which won't install itself in a Windows 10 environment...) that was said to correct a similar issue in Revit 2017 to no avail... I have also tried all of the resizing options with adjusting the text scaling and resolution to thei... without any success...

Please... if anyone can find a way around this problem please please please let me know.

Thanks.

So if it still does not work on Parallels properly I wonder what the solution is?

I wish I knew. I was able to print correctly from a second coworker's computer who also has Revit LT on Parallels. However, when I tried Revit LT on my own computer, both in Parallels and in Bootcamp, the problem was still happening. I think that both my coworkers have the non-updated version of Windows 10, so that seems to be the issue with my own computer.

Yes the Windows 10 upgrade is the problem.

My MAC with Bootcamp and Windows 10 worked perfectly until Windows 10 did an automatic upgrade, now it does not work.

I am going to try and see if I can remove the upgrades or reinstall Windows 10.

Also, Revit 16 is still printing fine. Unfortunately, our latest project has already been upgraded. Please help!

I suspect that's more a Bootcamp / Mac / Windows thing than a Revit one.
The Windows 10 Fall Creators update has broken a lot of things in a lot of software.

OK - same issues Revit 18.2, bootcamp etc. printing to pdf looks the same. If I export the drawing as a Dwg, open in Autocad and then print to pdf the text is correct. This seems to indicate it is a Revit problem, not Windows

I wish there was a way to un-solve this! It has REALLY become a problem.

Schedule text, and some other parameter-generated text is still unaffected.

Hi All
I am working on iMac 5k with Bootcamp and Windows 10.
The problem only started happening once Windows 10 did an automatic update.
I uninstalled Windows 10, reinstalled it and turned off automatic updates before I connected my iMac to internet.
I then reinstalled Revit 2018 and it is now working perfectly.
This shows that it is a Windows 10 Update problem.

Hello @Anonymous

The Windows update may be including an incompatible update to the video driver.

Please let us know if this article helps.

Revit - Text overlaps when printing or print preview on MAC with Bootcamp

Is anyone experiencing a problem other than overlapping text characters?

Thank you!

Hi @michael.coviello believe I am having the same problem that @Anonymous was having. The link in your reply that seems to have helped other users leads me to a "Page Not Found" message. This is the link I am trying to follow: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Revit-Text-overlaps-when-printing-or-print-preview-on-MAC-with-Bootcamp.html

Any advice?

Attached is a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

5k retina iMac running Bootcamp (from 2014 I believe)

Windows 10 Home Single Language

Version 1709

OS Build 16299.15

Graphics Card: AMD RADEON R9 M295X

Driver Version: 22.19.170.1536

We're still using Revit 2017 on our projects, but I tested Revit 2017 and 2018 and have the same issue in both.

Changing the scaling in Display Settings to 100% had no effect on the text issue.

I previously was on Windows 7 and everything was fine, and I just updated to Windows 10. The text issue began when I updated to Windows 10.

I am also having an issue where I can't install "2018-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088776)".
