REVIT 2018 Edit Floor Causing Crash or freeze

Hi there,

I'm having issues with floor editing freezing Revit. I'm not getting any warnings but unable to close out of the floor editor so have to end process in Task manager. I've also just had the same freeze happen when simply in the type editor changing a layer thickness of a floor family.

Screenshot shows the simle chage I was making to the floor thickness changing the topping thickness from 65 to 75 and boom locked up.

There was a previous post that suggested the hotfix fixed the issue, but it hasn't in my case.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/revit-18-pick-line-unrecoverable-erro/td-p/7...

Is anyone else having this issue even with the 2018.0.2 Hotfix installed? It's very frustrating having top redo work, so now need to make sure I save before I edit anything.

Does anyone have any fixes for the problem?

Cheers blairmack.

@BlairmackNZ: That's a pretty significant thing if it causes a full crash. You sure it's a bug? Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would have gone undetected in testing. Can you replicate it with other floors, and in other projects?

I've been testing for hours with lots and lots of crashes.

In the end I changed the problematic floor to a single layer floor type and purged the problematic floor type from the project.

I then reimported the floor type (that was causing the problem originally) into the project and reassigned the floor to be this type. I don't seem to be having the same issues any longer, so hopefully this has resolved the problem.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the feedback Blair. Keep us posted. We got our hard media for 2018, but are going to sit on it for while. We're very apprehensive, especially in light of the fact that the first hotfix came within hours of new version's release. Not very confidence-inspiring, if you know what I mean.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the request to send the file. I seem to have sorted the issue by purging the floor type out. See my earlier post.

Hi everyone, I'm having the same problem with revit 2018, I'm not very expert of revit, but i'm working on a file which has the same problem. i try to edit the floor but then before finishing it, it stops working and RVT gives me the "fatal error". I can't go on. I don't know what to do.

If someone could help me it would be great!

Update Revit to the latest build 2018.3.

I've updated with the latest Hotfix, (Revit 2018.3), and I'm also encountering this problem: freezing when working on a floor.
