Renaming Shared & Project Parameters. Grayed out, won't let me change.

I have an existing parameter that I want to rename.  I am building a template and pulling from some previous parameters I've used in the past that control information how I am wanting to.

I've pointed the new template to where I want the shared parameter file to read from.  When I exported the shared parameter from the base file, I went into my TXT file, renamed it from "*OPT..." to "*ADB..."  The problem is that when I go to create the new project parameter from the shared parameter, it seems to hold onto the old information.  It sees the "ADB..." parameter, but the name pops up as "OPT..."

Any help on how to rename the grayed out parameter name is greatly appreciated.

You can't rename Shared Parameters. You're stuck when them. You can delete them if you want to live dangerously. You can create new ones. That's about it.  

BTW: Shared Parameters are shared by virtue of their GUID -- not their name.  Your project could have a dozen Shared Parameter named the same, but all referencing a different Shared Parameter (e.g. GUID).   

One other piece of info that may be useful to know: there is no "link"  between the Shared Parameter and the File from which it came, once the Shared Parameter is used.  Your Project could have hundreds of "working" Shared Parameters from all sorts of SP Text Files that no longer exist.  Again, the SP Text File is not used to make 'em work.

Thanks.  Ya, I was able to create new ones but wasn't really wanting to go down that rabbit hole if I could just rename them.
