hi I am a new user of revit and I am trying to  unloack brick  layers of the exterior wall (please see the attached image file). But when I open the little padlock and press "ok" button,  Revit gives me an error message:  "Cannot extend layer(s) of the highlighted vertically compound wall."  The walls are not attached to anything. why i get this error meaasge?   How can i extend the brick layer?

Thank you very much in advance!!!

I mean pick a wall and select all similar, then Detach Top/Base=>Detach All.  That's what I do.

....I'll look at your file and report back.

...works here. Detach All allows me to modify and unlock wall layers.

Interesting.  I just did it.  Selected wall "Exterior - 240 110 brick+40 gap+90 stud", right-clicked and picked Select All Instances=>Visible in View, and then clicked Detach Top/Base =Detach All on Contextual Tab. Afterwards, I modified and unlocked wall layer in Edit Assembly section view no problem.

Hi

In your file, the outer Brick layer is still LOCKED...

unlock it first the way you showed .

Now I did. Thank you for the kind comment. The only thing you missed was to "DETACH AL" on the Options Bar after you click on Detach Top/Bottom.
