Publish Coordinates to link Central Model_Error

Hello all,

I created a SITE.rvt in which I linked a .dwg file (survey map)  and I acquired coordinates.

After I linked a Central Model file and Publish Coordinates from the Site to the Central Model. 

When I go to save the SITE.rvt I get the following message (see attachment) , amd I am not able to publish the coordinates to the central model.

1. What I need to do in order to Publish the coordinates to the Central Model?

2. If I want after days to move again the building_central_model  in the site.rvt and to publish the new coordinates,  I will have the same problem?

i had that before..

simply publish the coordinates on a local file, then made a new central with local file.

It works. But there is something that I cannot understand.

In the Site.rvt now I have import a local file X. 

I keep to make changes in the central model creating each day a new local file ' Append timestamp to existing filename. 

1. I noticed that if I go to the Site.rvt and reload the local file X, the changes are updatted. I was expecting that I wouldn't be able to see the changes as the linked file is a previous local. Why?

2.  I go to the Site.rvt and move the link local building , publish the new coordinates and save the Site_rvt.

When I open a new local copy from the Central Model the new coordinates are not updatted.

Do you now why?

(One time that I tried I get also the following error_ see attachment but I tried once again and the new problem is the above)

Have you tried to do it the other way around: link the Site to the Building central file, relocate it to align with the building, then acquire shared coordinates?  I think it should eliminate the error since you don't need to save another file like the other approach does.

Could you please tell me the process that I need to follow in the case that I have a CENTRAL MODEL_building file and a SITE_file and I want to publish coordinates from the Site_file to the Building_Central Model file?

Until now I linked in the Site_File the lastest 'local_building_file', in order to have the latest changes of my building. 

As I am in the Site_File:

I moved the linked local_building_file and I save the new position.

How I can see the position of the building on the Central Model?

Tell me if it is not clear in order to discribe the process that I did better.

No.  You only need your Site with the correct Coordinates.  Think of your building as a Lego block that can be placed any where, on any site files.  Here is what I do and it works every time:

- Create a Site central file with the correct survey coordinates

- Click on the survey point, click on its name and rename the Site name from Internal to Shared (this step is only to suggest to users to use this Site name as the Shared Coordinates, it changes nothing to the model coordinates wise)

- Create a building central file.  Do not touch the SP, PBP, True North, and Project North, period.  Model you building right where the PBP is, nice and up right.

- Link the Site central file in, center to center or origin to origin, doesn't matter.  Move it, rotate it, etc... to match your building.

- Highlight the Site link, click on the box next to Shared Site on the link Properties and choose Shared

That's it for acquiring shared coordinates.

Now you can test how you building falls into the Site:

- Close the Building central file

- Open the Site central file, link the Building central file in and choose by Shared Coordinates.  It will come in and sit right where it is supposed to be.
