Problem with sorting & grouping in Project Browser

Hi all,

Here, I want to categorize each of my plans based on real situation, starting from the lower levels at the bottom, and continuing up to upper levels. I defined a Project Parameter named as "Plan Type" in which I use it as for each floor plans. However, when I want to sort my Project Browser from bottom to top, nothing changes except the subsets of each floor plan.

I have tested different things like switching from Ascending to Descending and vice-versa but still unsuccessful.

THANKS

Hi @s328255, thanks for reaching out on Revit Architecture Forum.

When you are mentioning about sorting floor plan from Bottom to Top, did you mean 03. Third Floor should show on top in floor plan and followed by 02. Second Floor and the 01. First Floor?

I think your problem is using the view type to organize the level, when that parameter already exists.

You can:

A) Remove the type from the organization and organize only by view family. Then sort by associated level descending.

Or:

B) Keep the type in the organization and sort by Family and type descending.

If you really want to maintain the two-level organization/grouping, I recommend using letters in reverse:

Lvl9 = "A. 9th floor"
Lvl8 = "B. 8th floor"
Lvl7 = "C.  7th... "

...
Mezzanine 1= "J. Mezz1"
Lvl0= " K. "
Lvl-1= "L. Basement 1"
Lvl-2= "M. Basement 2"

I also recommend considering whether you could solve this by creating a shared parameter and applying it to views and sheets instead of using the types.
