Hello, I have asked this question over on MEP but still no answer,
I am looking for a Pipe Break Line a round one as we are using it for piping,
We need the lineweight to be editable with the differant pipes it would be placed on,
Now I have created a family for this, but what I would need an answer to is a better way to insert the family, we are looking for a way like you would insert it in AutoCAD,
You would be picking the start and end point for the size of the pipe, we were wondering about this becuase we need this family for many pipes, for the dfferant sizes, and angles.
Beign able to insert this like in AutoCAD would save time.
Could it be something as simple as changing the snaps or making the family in genaral.
Thnak you, to anyone with help, or comments.

Only thing we are looking for is the insertion part.
If it can auto size to whatever pipe we need it on or have it as a pick two points.
Thank You.
To further clarify, we can change the size by the dimensions on the left but again we are looking for a AutoCAD or auto size way.
Thank You.
Like this?? Attached family is 2014.

You're welcome. You were on the right track. I just remade the family using the DETAIL ITEM LINE BASED family template. The only thing you need to keep in mind is which direction you draw it because it may come in backwards. Although (thinking out loud) you could probably simply add a flip control to it.

One other thing... You'll need to modify the line styles to suit your standards.

I added the flip control to this one. I couldn't leave well enough alone. ![]()

Hi Matt,
I appreciate the input on this. I assume this is only for smaller diameter pipes. When I use it on large diameter pipes it loses the oval shape and it looks more like two circles.
Hi, can you tell how break the tube above without hiding the tube below?
You can't because there's no way to layer a masking region. In other words, you can't have a family with multiple masking regions, one at say 12" and the other at 24" to hide objects at varying elevations. I think the best you can do is create a family similar to one attached and also show the pipe below.
Or mask the entire gap and add lines and a parameter that represents the pipe below.
I've attached both families.
