Pattern Alignment

Any idea how to overcome the Revit pattern alignment issue? Even when I do it manually it is full of bugs. The snap to horizontal misses the exact horizontal line by a bit and then it is impossible to align a segment to its neighbours. It drives me crazy and wastes entire days of work doing it...

Any thoughts about this?

Use a model pattern, tab select the pattern line(s) and then move/rotate it.

I know that. That is what I am doing. It takes ages, and many times the snap does not align to vertical or horizontal lines and then it is impossible to align. The align command simply does not work.

I'm unable to reconstruct the issue you're having with this from the question alone. Perhaps share the file to have a look...

I attach one such floor.

Try rotating and aligning the area cloud marked area. There are many parts that behave like this. Revit triangulated surfaces are tedious.

You could try aligning to the points instead of the edges... or perhaps just use regions on top, seems overly complex tbh.

Ovely complex? This is an existing pavement around an existing consevation builidng. Software should fit real needs not real needs fitting the software.

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't hatch it -- especially all 3700 sq. ft.  of it.  I might strategically locate hatches  for particular detail views, but I would use the View-Specific Hatches in those views.

Thanks for your attention and effort, but you're sending me back to Autocad. This is not a BIM solution. I know how to solve 2D problems. They do not resolve the 3D ones.

Oh yes! very much so. Autodesk are driving me up the wall. I am enfuriated by their attitude and lack of care for their customers. But that is not your problem. I have been working with Revit since 1999 and most problems I reported in 2001 are still there, because they are not on the "Road Map". The letter that was sent by some leading firms to Autodesk received a ridiculous resposnse, so yes, I do need my daily dosage to keep on working like this. Not my choice, but that is the reality where I work. Sorry for this tirade, but you asked...😁

I meant that it seems like an overly complex geometry using modified subelements to then use a hatch/surface pattern on. So I think you should reconsider the method to model this pavement perhaps... But I guess it doens't solve your issue your having at this very moment, but I would be happy to help you along further or for a future similar situation to find a better approach.
