Open IFC file error

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I'm trying to open a IFC file in Revit, but once done, I receive an error message saying : "The following problems were encountered in the IFC file : No building elements were found in the file.".

Has anyone ever encounter this issue?

I also try to import the IFC in a new project and it didn't work either... I tried to change the "Phase filter" to "Show all" and the "Phase" to "Latest", nothing appeared.

I also want you to know that I didn't create the IFC file, I received it from a client.

Any ideas?

William

I had the same issues in the past.

Try change the IFC options before linking it into the project.

You can find more information about this here

Hello. Try to convert that IFC file into RVT file using older version of revit. It helped in my case at least. Originally problem occured when trying to open in Revit 2023, but when trying convertion in Revit 2022, that message didn't show up, and file has been converted.
