Moving level without losing dimensions.

Hello all,

I have made the mistake of forgetting to change a level earlier in my project. I have ceilings that were 300mm thick but they changed it to 400 thickness. So to quickly change the model i made the floor 400 thick and gave it an offset from level 100mm, so the bottom side of the floor would remain the same height.

Now, 5 weeks later i realize what i have done and if i want to change the level to move it 100mm up, everything that is attached to that level moves with it.

Is there a fix for this? Cant be the first person to encounter this i guess..

All this work was necessary to reconcile the new ceiling thickness?  Wow.  So, now 5 weeks later, you've  realized that all you needed to do was raise the level.  Why is it to late to do so? e.g. Raise the level and lower the floor back?  What does to effect?

Well you only make mistakes like that once, i guess..

If i change the level i get about 70 errors about dimensions being lost and joins removed.

I have made a lot of sections for this project(about 200) with dimensions and all.

I get the picture. You are hosed.  Unfortunately, it's a hands on evaluation.  I don't think guessing and fiddling around with it, using a middle-man, I going to do much good for you.   Could make it worse.  Like trying to unravel last year's Christmas Lights.

Just move that level and hope the best. You should do it anyway, but not before you made a backup.

- Save a backup

- Create a DWF of the section/elevation sheets

- Raise the Level and accept the errors

- Link the DWF markup file in and you can see it overlay on your sheets

- Go through sheets and views and add any missing elevation based on by comparing with the DWF markup overlay

- Go to the bar

I'm dizzy already.  I actually start at the bar and work backwards.

Not mad at all. I'd have stuck it out with you.  Helped you avoid tangling the Christmas tree lights. he,he. I been there, done that and learned from it.   It happens.

All's good.

Thanks for the credit.
