Modeling Lines in Revit

This is just a generic question,

I am trying to create lines in Revit that would show up in all views (all MEP disciplines). I have to callout rooms that will have 1-hour fire rated walls. The lines to callout each room that will be created have the following attributes below. The problems is that when it comes to using detail lines, I can't assign them to a family nor can I assign them to a workset. I don't know to much on using Model Lines, but can I assign model line to a workset and/or a family so that I can have them show on all views ? Capture of one of the rooms is attached.

To create the same line type:

-line weight projection = 6

-line color = black

-line pattern = dash 1/8”, space 1/8”

Thank you!

Unlike Detail lines, model lines will show in all view unless you deliberately turn them off.

Now, when you say "...deliberately turn them off", do you mean like turning off the model lines from the V/G within the model categories ?

Yes.  And any other method you would use to turn model elements off such as filters or hide elements in view.

I ran into a problem where I used a detail line and made sure that all views have "Lines" model category turned on, but the model lines I create won't show in other views, I have made sure that the model lines workset were turned on as well. I still can't see anything.

Are the model lines obscured by other things?  Are they within the view range?

Yes, I adjusted the view ranges and still nothing. Nothing would show up in the hidden view as well. I will continue to mess around with the view ranges. I have to be doing something wrong in my process. See attached files for current view, where the model line was created/drawn and another view where the model line are suppose to show up.

No, unless the view is wire frame or the wall is transparent.

For what you are doing, I think using detail lines is more appropriate.  There are a couple approaches:

1. Detail lines in group:  draw detail lines directly in a view and group them, then copy paste the group to other views.

2. Detail lines in in-place family:

- create an in-place family (wall or generic category)

- draw detail lines

- model a 3d extrusion so that it will be cut by your view range cut plane, set the extrusion to invisible from property

- finish the in place model and you can have the detail lines in it showing in any plan/rcp view with a cut plane cutting the 3d extrusion
