I have made a family with <Invisible Lines> linetype that goes on a wall to help with fixture placement while modeling.

There are certain views where these model elements cause issues by unintentionally snapping while dimensioning etc.,
Instead of creating a view filter just for this reason, I am looking to toggle the linetype visibility. But, this particulate line type is not seen in the Model/Annotation Categories.

How can I make this linetype invisible/hidden in a view?

Why don't you just change the Invisible Linework's Reference to "Not a Reference"?

...another why to control visibility of a family element  in a project view, is by placing the element on a Subcategory that you can turn off in project views where you don't want it used.

The purpose of this grid family is to help place wall fixture elements using those lines/intersections as reference. So, make them to 'Not a Reference' could compromise the usage.

Okay, then use the alternative approach I suggested. That not work?

Unfortunately, there are a few more families along with this one that wants to be in one category. For consistency (grouping) and editing down the line.
Moving it into another model category or changing the line type to other (that's not a <Invisible lines>) so I can toggle its visibility is something I am thinking of as a last resort.

Last resort?  Subcategories?  Interesting that you want to avoid a fairly common practice.

Create your own object style (subcategory) in the family and assign these lines to it.

Yes. I tried creating subcategory called 'Snap Grid' in my earlier attempts and it works.

But the only problem I had with that approach was the lines are graphically visible in the view I use to snapping fixtures. But I do not want the line work showup (be invisible and highlight when hovered over them).
So, is there a way I can make my own object style where line can be invisible?

Why don't you use actual Reference Lines then?  You can snap dimensions to them and they remain invisible.

That's a great suggestion! This Snap Grid family I made has vertical and horizontal lines that has visibility control based on the width and height of the grid. Screen shot shows some variations on the family.
Unfortunately Reference lines don't have visibility parameter to selectively make the lines visible. Thus, I had to create this grid with model line and then use <invisible lines> line type.

Well then use a combo move:

- Reference Lines for snapping dimensions

- Model lines in a subcategory, locked to the reference lines, set to Not Reference so that they are for visual only
