Calculating what in relation to Mean Grade?
either taking "points" around the bldg and calculating the average grade or typing in the elevation heights to do the calculations to show on the code analysis sheet to help define if 'basement'.
instead, i just did it manually using text notes.

I don't get what you are trying to do or schedule. Can you post some pictures to illustrate what you are describing?
- Create a face based generic model with a small circle or crossed lines, load and place it around the footprint of the building where the grade meets the building (do it in 3D so you place them at the correct elevations)
- Create a generic model schedule
Oh snap, I can see the Elevation for each point in the properties but can't add them in schedule. More thoughts needed.
If you only need the data, i.e. an excel table then it is fairly easy to do. if you need a native Revit schedule then i need to think.
This thread is getting more and more confusing. What may I ask is the Generic Model Schedule - of the Adaptive Points Family instances placed in the Project - suppose to report?

mean grade elevation = grade plane. when a floor level is defined as a basement vs a floor above grade.

Ha! Thanks for the information. I know what "Mean" means. Average of numbers. I think I learned that in the forth grade. What I don't know is what your "Mean Grade Calculation Schedule" or "Code Analysis Sheet" is. That's something defined by the jurisdiction you are in -- not by "Wikipedia".
I am interested in finding a BIM-assisted way of calculating this as well. I also used a text box/filled region method to map out my weighted calculations, and pulled it all together in excel.
I was hoping the building pad tool might offer some opportunity for this, since engages with the topography. You could offset the sketch as needed to coordinate the cut/calculation with IBC definitions.
