Level of details for Mullion Profiles loop? Wishlist...

Hello,

I can draw different profiles loops in a mullion profile family, and assign to them different LOD, and the preview within the family editor works fine.

However, once imported into the project, the family generates a "Multiple loops" error.

This is one of those things you would assume Revit could do ... but does not.

In fact, why would it be possible to give to the lines of the loops detail levels visibility?

Maybe is a wish list item...

We have a glass railing shoe built as a mullion, but in plan there are too many lines and we wish to see only a simple box for Coarse level of detail...

thanks

regards

gio

You can have the loop line show in coarse and a nested detail for medium and fine.

This is exactly how it should be done.  The loop lines should be as simple as possible because they will be extruded or swept into 3d in project.  Nested detail(s) take care all of nicks and knack for detail views.

Nope, the loop will generate an extrusion (the mullion) which is always visible, even if the loop lines have some of their visibility level of detail check off.

In other words, the button is active and you can check and uncheck Coarse, Medium or Fine, but there are no results that I can tell: in 3D as much as in section / elevations the mullion is always visible.

I am not interested in the 2D detail lines you can import in the profile, that works as expected; I am interested in creating different versions of the actual 3D extrusion, with different complexities, or LODs, like you can in every other family.

thank you

regards

Pretty interesting, @gsucci . I never really noticed the Visibility Settings in the Profile Template.  Doesn't make much sense to me.  I wonder why it's there.

Also, I agree; Revit doesn't warn about a "bad" profile, until you go to use it in the Project. I wonder why that is too.
