Materials not showing in any view, no matter the graphic display type

Hi, I'm trying to add materials to elevations and cannot get the materials to display. I've tried troubleshooting by using out-of-the box materials and made sure hardware acceleration is on. All I see is default gray. I've tried painting the materials on and applying them through parameters as well. Is there some global setting that I missing?

Thanks!

Add a rendering path to your materials.

Or reinstall the Autodesk Material Libraryhttps://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-uninstall-a...

I added a path there, though it's possible I did it incorrectly. I also tried creating a custom material to work around any autodesk material location problems, and that also failed. Just fyi the end goal will be to use custom materials rather than OOTB materials anyway, I just initially thought maybe my custom materials were the issue.

You don't have materials applied, everything is set to <By Category>, that is why they display gray. Apply materials in edit type, and change the material clicking the dots to open the material manager

Consider checking your philters if applying material doesn't solve

I deleted the version with materials applied so as not to save any of the changes I made that ended up not helping. Sorry if that was confusing. I imagine you'll find the same thing I found if you try to apply materials.

BTW @KJH6Z4PH, I have no issues whatsoever applying Materials to Loadable Families via Family Parameter (as shown above) or applying Materials to System Families (i.e. Walls, Floors, etc.) via Paint Tool.  Note: you cannot apply Paint to non-System Families. Also, note View Phase Filter Graphic Overrides take precedence over Paint.

Hmm, well I'm still facing the same issue and the steps you've described are the basic steps one would take for any visualization. I've done it before and never had a problem. So.. assuming I assigned the materials correctly, could this be a hardware issue? I'm at a loss here.

You did not assign the materials correctly.  Do what I described above and then come back I tell me how great she looks.   😉

Ok, I get it, thank you.

"View Phase Filter Graphic Overrides take precedence over Paint." It's not super useful as that's a global setting which defines basic lineweight relationships in this CD set which has been issued already. Anyway.. now I know.
