Manually update a 2020 cloud model to 2021

I think I've read that you can't *yet* upgrade a 2020 model to a 2021 model with the update feature on the cloud.  So, I tried to go the old way by saving it locally, upgrading the project, and then reposting the model.  But, now I can't get the project folder to show up when I go to initialize/collaborate in cloud.  Permissions are all good in BIM360.  The project on BIM360 contains no files.  Does it take some time for the cobwebs of the old 2020 model to clear out or do I have to start a whole new project, invite everyone again, set permissions, etc?

Thanks for the response but the link clearly states this function does not yet work for an upgrade to Revit 2021, as I mentioned in my post.  Secondly, I tried the next method.  I can upgrade the model manually; it just won't let me initiate the model, seemingly because BIM360 still thinks it is built around a Revit 2020 project.  I can't come up with any other explanation.

a_meteni, thanks for the response.  I think I am trying to get at a bigger issue that has happened before in previous versions.  For instance, when I upgraded (again, manually) a project from 2019 to 2020, I had to recreate a project on BIM360 because there was something stuck in BIM360 where it knew it once contained at Revit 2019 project.  It's like it couldn't figure out how to now accept a Revit 2020 project.  Maybe we are pseudo saying the same thing.  If you upgrade a project using the built in tool, it is fine.  If you save a copy, upgrade locally, then try and enable it to cloud worksharing, the cloud won't accept the model.  Just trying to figure out why that is the case.  I have to archive the old BIM360 project, start a new one with a slightly different project name, invite the project team to the "new" project, etc.

#4. Initiate collaboration to the new BIM 360 project?

All these steps fail?

Option 1, line 6 is what I normally do.  If the BIM360 project contained a previous version of a Revit file, it won't show you the folder when you go to open in Revit even if the permissions are correct.  It is similar to this link under "causes", but instead of backwards, it's forwards.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

Instead of reading "BIM 360 projects are only able to host one supported Revit version of Cloud Workshared models at a time," it should read, "BIM 360 projects are only able to host one supported Revit version of Cloud Workshared models at a timeever."  At least, until upgrades to Revit 2021 are supported by Autodesk via the next release OR you are able to successfully use the upgrade function.  If you try and do it manually, you're out of luck.

Our local rep just confirmed that BIM360 projects are version specific based on the initial cloud model that's saved to the project.  So,  you can only save 2020 version models to that project unless the cloud model upgrade is available to upgrade the entire BIM360 project, Revit file and all.

It's all good, I just recreated the project in BIM360 so we could get moving.  Thanks to all.
