Linking CAD file causes model elements to become wireframe/transparent

I am working on a large landscaping plan. (Cue comments that Revit isn't really the best tool for landscape work...)
In our plan views, we want to include the survey of the existing landscape and site furnishings, which has been prepared by the surveyor in AutoCAD. I inserted the survey as a link, moved it to the correct coordinates, and pinned it in place. Then I went to my prepared sheets, and discovered that the CAD topography contour lines cause elements with which they intersect to become wireframe instead of the Shaded or Consistent Colour that they were prior to inserting the CAD file.
I've searched around for a solution but nothing seems to present itself. The elements show back up as shaded if I hide the survey file, but obviously that doesn't help.
The file is too large to upload, but I've attached some screen grabs of the affected areas. The stair units are meant to be grey (concrete) but most show up wireframe. Similar issue at bottom left with the floor (dark grey background with blue crosshatch).
If I temporarily hide the link, everything goes back to normal.
