Linked Project Best Practice

I am looking for best practices for linking a model with exterior elevations and section views into multiple host models using the same views for each model.

I am creating a Revit Model with multiple single, duplex, and triplex housing units for a low-income development area. I am using scope boxes for each of these units. The intent was to submit all these housing units in one project file, as we will be using the same wall sections and details for each unit. We are at 90% complete, and the city inspectors stated we could not issue these housing units in one plan set. Each unit needs to have separate submissions. This means separate cover sheets, details, sections..etc. I am using the current model as a "master" plan and linking this project into separate host projects. I am using a live building and wall sections and exterior elevations. Can I link these live views into a host model? I would like to change items once and not need to go into each project to change an item in the wall sections for example. Or does anybody have a better solution to do this? I know I cannot create multiple sheet A101, for example, in one project file. Just checking to see if anyone else has done something similar.

 Thank you

I have already done this for all our floor plan views. Using this I can control the plan views. I still cannot show any sections from the linked file.

Thanks again

What about Clipboard Copy/Paste Sections between Projects?

Actually, I'm unclear why you can't display Link Section View in Parent using By Linked View.  What happens when you try?

Maybe I am doing this all wrong, but I have no option to display linked section views. Only plan views. The callouts are nowhere to be found, and when I use the bring views from another project, drafting views are the only option.  I have not  tried copy/paste yet. Copy/Monitor maybe???

1. Create New Revit file using our template.

2. Link in Revit model.

3. Assign visibility graphics to each floor plan by linked view.

4. After noticing all dimensions and room labels showed after using the by linked view option, the section and elevation callouts are missing. Make sure those items are checked in the annotation by linked view.

5. No linked section or elevation views are present.

That's all I've done so far.

Callouts, elevation lines, sections lines in linked view will not show in host view even you set the view to By Linked view because they point to views and sheets that don't exist in your host model.

You need to place callouts, sections and elevations in the host model, then set each of those views to by linked view.

Sections are not even an option. I see the Show Annotation Categories in the View is checked. Is there somewhere to check Sections and Elevations? Thanks again for all your help.

You need to set to Custom under Basic Tab to be able to access those settings, but I'm not clear on what you want to see.  I thought you were trying to see the Section Markers that are in the Link.  You won't be able to.  Copy/Paste them from the Link.

You will not see callouts / sections / elevations in linked views.  Period.  Place sections / elevations / callouts directly in your view, then open them and set the link display to by Linked View.
