link dwg to family

Is it possible to link a DWG to revit family and control it in the revit family.
So if my family changes the dwg should also change with it, length and width.
Or if my dwg changes the family should change too.
It is a simple rectangle to a ceiling plate.

you can import a CAD file into a revit family.  You cannot link a CAD file into a revit family.  If you import a CAD file into a family, you can only assign it a Yes/No parameter.  If you explode it, then it can be manipulated to "act" like a revit family.

Ultimately, it is just as easy to create the revit family from scratch and intelligent parameters.

Hope this helps

What I want to achieve is that I also want to link the  dwg to a Autodesk Inventor Part.

Youre drawings are as good as the symbols that compleet them.....

We now make a export of the family to autocad dwg.

That dwg i can link with my Inventor part.

So if the family change i have to make a new export and my Inventor part updates to.

Hi,

If you create the family in-place you can link a dwg
