Level extents in 3D view

This has to be simple, but I am not grasping how to do this.

In 3D view, the extent of the levels is way off the model content. I know I can select the level and drag the grips to be over the model, but is the a way to propagate the extents ? The propagate extents button is grayed out.

When I link this model into another, the levels create a mess. I could turn the link levels off, but I would like this to be managed in the link files.

Select the levels on a section, right click and choose maximize 3d extent.

Right-click your level and choose 'maximize 3D extend'.

However, the fundamental problem is that you didn't model around the internal origin of Revit.

If you open an architectural template you will see 4 elevation markers in plan view.

If you model in between these, the standard levels will also be more or less in the correct position.

Also, make sure you know the difference between 3D and 2D datum elements.

-3D is the actual position and dimension of an element

-2D is how it is represented in a view

Propagate extends is a 2D operation, therefore it will not solve your issues when linking a model.
