Issue when modelling a existing Hip Roof

Hi,

 

I've been trying to model an existing hip roof on Revit. But unforunately "Roof by Footprint" isn't generating the correct ridges from the data provided by the original drawings. The roof is at 22.50° Pitch with 450mm overhang which spans 3 metres.Front ElevationFront ElevationSide ElevationSide ElevationRoof Footprint (22.50° Pitch)Roof Footprint (22.50° Pitch)

I'm not sure what would be the best method to use in Revit 2021 to correct this issue.

 

Any help on this would be great.

Post the file. I'll beat it into submission.  

 

...have you tried an "Offset from From Base" along with a "break" at the eaves along that jut out?

Close but I modelled that front facade as a seperate roof because its slightly higher.

The eave line is not aligned in the one I posted. Take a closer look.   

 

the "jutted" roof is one foot lower.  

 

...that's what I was elluding to when I asked you if you were using an "Offset From Roof Base".

I get you so instead of having two seperate roofs you can offset in the properties.

 

its about 100mm offset.

Not a problem. 200mm is less than the 12 inches I'm showing. I think it's a pretty roof.  But if you want to do it as a separate roof tied into the other, then go for it.  Whatever works for you.

I'm confused. Perhaps someone can help me figure this out.

After Joining to remove the visible edge between the 2 roofs:

This is @ToanDN's iteration of the Model; 2 roofs (over-built condition), but completely different "pop-out" roof and offset than OP's model and OP's Roof Plan (e.g. hip removed from one side of pop-out).

This is my iteration of the model; 1 roof - not 2 (e.g. no over-built) - and identical to the OP's model and Roof Plan.

That's what I'm asking you. I don't understand.  This is just plain goofy to me.

Not to beat a dead horse here @218563263, but I think the "issue" you were seeing was extra linework.  Your original model was essentially fine.  That extra linework you were seeing could have been removed by simply joining your two Roof together using the Join Geometry Tool.

Well, thanks for playing, @ToanDN

 

Yeah, I brought up that offset in Message 3 and 7.  Whatever; I'm not dissing your contribution. I like it.  I just thought the idea was to keep the hip roof (as per the title of the thread).
