Hi,
on another site I found a post with the attached drawing/model of a floor slab (floor, generic 12") with a profile applied (in the Slab Edge Thickened 24" x 12" family) which is a strip of insulation.
The thing I can't understand (and no one on that site appears to either and the contributor seems to be inactive) is that in section the insulation cuts the top 2 layers of the floor so that it sits on the insulation layer in the floor. If I try this I just either get the 'element entirely in another' type error or if I jog the insulation in the family editor so it sticks out slightly the rest is still in the floor slab and the concrete layers obscure it.
The downloaded drawing is not using 'cut profile' as all section through the floor show the insulation as it should be with the concrete layers "pulled back" to accommodate it. (Like you can for walls meeting floors by editing wall sections Edit Assembly - Modify)
I wondered if I could edit constraints in the system family for the floor to make it possible to edit it in section in the same way as walls but the system families for my drawing just seem to be bits of labeled floor in a drawing (GBRENU_Floors). I don't know how to edit the family of the floor in the imported drawing.
So, as a subsidiary query, I want to look at the family of the insulation strip/profile and the floor that is used in the imported drawing but can't find it. If it stays in the drawing and is not imported as a stand-alone family how do I edit it?
Thanks if you can explain any of this
Jon
