Changing how generic model family shows up in plan

Hello,

I have a generic model family that I'm using as a rough site context for my project. At the moment it gets cut in every plan view of my building, however I only want to see the roofs of the buildings in this family (in all the plan views). Is there a way to change the settings of this particular family so it doesn't get cut in plan while still continuing to cut in section views?

Sorry for the complicated explanation, hopefully you understand what I mean.

You can try using plan region under view-create-plan views. And than change the view range of the plan region to a value you like different than the actual view range value

You can control if the geometry will be visible in a specific view or not. Each individual piece of geometry in the family needs to be individually set.

Select the geometry you don't want visible in a plan view and click Visibility and graphic overrides in the properties panel. You can then un-check visibility for the plan view. You can see this kind of behavior/control in the OOTB door family. The door pannel and frame 3d geometry are turned off in the plan view but are visible in section/elevation, 3d views. The door geometry for the plan is created from detail lines.
