in Revit, how do I set preference for CAD links/ imports to insert in foreground as default, and not background?

You can't. It is set as background as default. Several users raise up the same issue for over decade and it is still set as background. You can upvote this feature from Revit idea if you want this available in future release.

its better to use link cad in-case there are amendments you can easily reload and set to foreground. thanks
