How to schedule Revit walls

I am currently trying to make a materials schedule for a project I am working on, and I am trying to show the Wall Schedule grouped by each type with the combined area of that type, but every time I group the family type the area disappears as shown in the attachment. 

I've done the exact same grouping technique with columns and beams so I am not entirely sure why it isn't working. Any suggestions are appreciated!

In the Schedule Properties > Formatting Tab, select Area Field > Calculate Totals
