How to pull a text parameter from a nested item

I have a detail item that has another nested detail item in it.  I am trying to pull a text parameter from the nested item so I can use it in a tag.  To be clear I am trying to pull from the nested item not push into it.

Is the nested family "shared"?

Is the parameter a "shared paramaeter"?

Nested family is set to shared and I am using shared parameters.

I could be wrong but, IRC, you will need another shared parameter in the parent family that pulls the information from the nexted family.

I am trying to see how to do that.  I have attached a simple detail item.  When I tag the item, I want to tag Text 1 from the host family and Text 2 from the nested family.

Sorry, I don't have 2024 nor will I download it to this machine. We are staying away from that version.

Remade detail in 2021.  If solved here, it should be solved in 24 as well.

I looked back on my families and I have not done what you are trying. I've only pulled the type name as a parameter and geometric contitions that change from different types. If you can live with the type name being the same as the information, it should be pretty easy. Beyone that someone else may ahve to chime in.

Currently trying to avoid that option but maybe forced into it.  Thanks.

You're welcome.

I'll be looking forward to seeing if you come up with something else.

The goal is to insert it into a project and tag both text 1 and text 2 in the same tag.  Tagging in the detail component is not the goal

I must be missing something. I see @RSomppi already confirmed this but you replied that you didn't want to go this way. I'm confused.  Or misinterpreting.

Ah! I see now. Thanks for that clarification.  No can do.

I am trying to do it through text within the detail item.  He mentioned geometric options or having a shared detail item.  When I attempt to do the detail item method it tags Family:type in the project not just type.

Boy, I must need more coffee because I'm still losing you.

I can tag both Parent and Nested Detail Items.

As I said above, that can't be done...BUT you could Group the Detail Item with Tags. You can also COPY the two Tags together.

...just to be clear:  that could actually be done, but when the tag couldn't find one of the Parameters in the Family, it would display a Question Mark ("?").  I don't think you want that. Right?
