I didn't want to edit line type of a family through edit the element visibility. How do I make line type editable in family property edit?

Huh? I'm not following.  What exactly do you want to do?

...maybe post the family along with the explanation so that the boys and girls can follow along at home. 😉

I try to change line type (ex : solid to dash) using family property panel
instead of right click and override graphic in view.

Thank you!

You would have to make two lines or extrusions on top of each other with the different line styles you want, and then use visibility parameters to select the one you want to show.

In most cases, it is just better to utilize the object styles feature to manage these types of things.

- Draw lines under a subcategory with solid pattern, assign the lines to a Yes/No parameter named Solid line

- Duplicate lines and move them to a subcategory with dashed pattern, assign the lines to a Yes/No parameter named Dashed line

- Use the formula for Dashed line parameter: not (Solid line)

- Load the family to the project and you can tick Solid line box to show slid lines or Dashed line box to show dashed lines

I have another question relate to lines.  How can I create custom line  that able to turn different angle and still is continuous.  Right now, ever time I turn different angle, I draw a new line that is not continuous (not 1 polyline) .

Chain Segments is the best you can do.

...there would be a way - with a little work -  to do this via a Multi-Point Adaptive Family pulling a Divided Line. The nodes of the Divided Line could host an element that is repeated along the Divided Line.

Why a Repeated component on a Divided Line Path is better than an Array » What Revit Wants (wrw.is)

See attached example of using curtain to draw line with embedded annotation.

I tried to add new types  dash line with arrow for the custom CW lines.  It shows up on the Browser panel, but I just can't add it to draw a new type of curtain wall beside hot and not hot.

You could consider using a nested Line based family.

Inside that family you could use visibility parameters as mentioned by some replies above.

I try to add a new type for CW line with text. The new type shows up on the browser, but I can't find it under curtain wall to use it. I even try to drag from the browser, but it doesn't work.

Duplicate the curtain panel type, edit the label parameter, create a new curtain wall, edit type, duplicate l, and assign the new curtain panel type to it.

Duplicate the curtain panel type, edit the label parameter. Draw a curtain wall, edit type, duplicate, and assign the new curtain panel type to it. Repeat for as many line types as you want.

Create a filter to turn off walls using type name criteria.

One problem I ran into is I tried to change the thickness of the line through object style in the family.  It doesn't change on the project.  The line only get thicker when I hover the line.  Can you let me know what is wrong?

Create a subcategory in the curtain panel family and assign it to the symbolic line.  Load in the project, open Object Styles > CUrtain panels > change the Width of the subcategory.
