How to create new curtain wall mullion component? .. NOT a profile!

I'm trying to calculate the volume of a mullion based on a particular customized profile.

I have managed to create a 2D profile with parameters for the length and width, complete with a formula calculating the area.  I was hoping I could then load this into the project and create a formula to 'multiply the area of this profile by the length of the mullion' BUT Revit won't allow me to create a new mullion, it will only allow a new profile to be loaded into an already loaded mullion component.

I am wanting to use this information to input into a Life Cycle Assessment for Building Materials.

There isn't any needs to create new mullions or a new mullion type. Add a calculated value parameter to the mullion schedule to multiply the length of the existing mullions with the known area of the new profile that you can enter.

There are two types of scheduling here
1. Mullion schedule: which will give the length etc
2 material schedule

In material schedule you can extract the volume directly . As long as mullions are solid section.

I can't seem to use the length as part of a calculated formula as it is variable? Its treated as a sweep? Or am I missing something?
