For one instance or for all instances in the project? One way would be to paint the surface(s) to extract the paint:area into a material takeoff schedule.

Don't understand, but you can apply paint to individual surfaces. If you want to change the extents of the paint on that one surface, use the split tool on it.

EDIT: Okay, I see want you are saying. The exposure on the inside face is what you're talking about. Disregard what I said then. As soon as this coffee kicks in, I'll be back. HA!

But, just to clarify...you say that those are Structural Framing families joining to a Structural Column family?

Then yes, use paint as I suggested. 

If this isn't working for you, my question remains: what families are you using to create this condition?  Looks like you're using walls to me. In that case, painting the exposure should work fine.

Paint the exposed surfaces with a material and create a material take off
schedule. There is a field called As Paint, use it to report the painted
area.
