With 2019, the Revit Home only shows the central model.  how come it doesnt show the local models instead?

Because you are supposed to open a new local each time you open the project...not the local file again.

Opening the old local file means you are essentially working in an old file which is not synchronized yet. In extreme cases this can lead to crashes. Therefore opening a new local file is better. Paul F. Aubin explains in his Lynda tutorials he always makes a new local file with a timestamp, that way you essentially have also local backups.

strange.  I (and I assume a lot of others) have always opened the local file to work on the project.  But since there is a local (shared project) there is already a backup folder.  so every time one opens the central and creates a new local, there will be extra folders as backups with the timestamps?

so then all your local files are in a single folder.  I have it so that each local file is in its projectname folder with the file and backup folder/files

OK.  I understand the process now.  will need to abandon the 'all local files to have their own project folder' and then keep all local files in a single/base folder.

another question - what does it take to get a project to show up on the Home/Recent Files?  I have 3 central models and 3 standalone projects along with 3 Sample Projects?

I have opened a few projects already that are standalone but they are not showing up.

recent files..

have some naming convention for Central files and standalone files..

Example

Central file can be ....PROJECT1_CF_2016  ( central file, 2016 version )

Standalone Project2_V16 ( Standalone, Version 2016)

You can add a shortcut in revit for folders used frequently..

that can be project folders, or even Documents folder where local files are created...

Thank you @Anonymous.  already have that setting turned on and the shortcuts.  just wondering why projects/models are not showing up.

is there a way to clear projects/models from Recent Files?
