I am trying to load in a cutout map that looks like this:
this is the result in the texture editor and applied to the material, behind:
How do I remove those bars at the frame of the sample? why does the alpha channel appear correctly in the preview (With black squares)?
I don't understand what you are doing, but this is how I would approach...
