Export DWG Line Weights

 Hi Everyone,

     I am working on a project where the client wants us to export DWG backgrounds using there specified line weights.  For the life of me I can not figure out how to do this.  When exporting the DWG I go the the export layer options and I can modify the color ID and layer, but not the line weights.  I have tried changing the color id to see if that changes the line weights within the DWG file, but have had no such luck.  Anyone have any idea on how to do this?  Thanks for the help.

Go to Manage >> Settings >> Object Styles, there you'll be able to adjust the LineWeights for each element in Revit:

Or you can adjust the Line Weights globally under Manage >> Additional Settings >> Line Weights:

The command in AutoCAD to toggle line weights on or off is LWDISPLAY <ON>/<OFF> (Or LW can be used). 

You'll generally only start to see a difference in Line Weights in AutoCAD from 0.30mm and up. 

You might need to use a combination of all of the above mentioned to get to where you need to be according to the client requirements. Do they want to print the files on their side from your exported DWG using their own .CTB standards? 

You can adjust the Object Styles >> Line Weights (first picture) accordingly or you can change the colors and you might export everything so that the Line Weights are e.g. - 0.35mm on your side (white), but their .CTB might be setup that Color (White) prints out at a Line Weight of 0.18mm. I hope this made sense.

You could try the following

In the DWG export setting you have export layer options setting. You could set overrides BYENTITY.

Create a view (template) for your export and set the cut line styles as needed by your client.

@Anonymous, if you already changed the export colors according to your clients' requirements, then you might want to export the drawings according to Export Setup >> Colors >> True Color (RGB Values). HERE IS A POST which also goes through this. If your export colors match your clients' .CTB files, then the way in which it prints out on their side should be fine with appropriate line weights.

Thank you everyone for the help and quick responses.  I was hoping I would not have to alter my Revit line weights and object styles to have them export correctly to AutoCad.  Would have been great if the color id in the export dialogue box could modify the line-weights for you.  Maybe this will happen in Revit 2018?

You can do it, not from Revit settings, but via AutoCAD Check Standards.  Steps below:

• Export Revit Sheets to DWGs as usual
• Open one DWG and save it as DWS (drawing standards)
• Open Layer Manager and modify the lineweight of layers as per your client standards
• Save and close DWS file
• Open each DWG and run Standards Check, add the DWS file from Standards tab
• Switch to Plug-ins tab and check Layers box
• Click on Check Standards button and it will match the lineweight from the DWS to DWG
• I don't remember if AutoCAD has a Batch Standards Checker for multiple files but you can do a search on that
