Detailing of a Shampoo Niche of a Shower

Refer to attached sketches of the niche in plan and in section.

A 12" x 12" Shampoo Niche was created with an opening on a wall.  The front wall of the shower is created with 3-5/8" studs, 1/2 Gypsum Wall Board (for the cementitious backer board), and 1/2" tiles.  A 12" x 12" opening is created on this shower wall to create the shampoo niche.

The rear and side walls of the niche are created with 1-5/8" studs, 1/2 Gypsum Wall Board (for the cementitious backer board), and 1/2" tiles.

The floor of the niche is created with the "Floor" icon with 1-5/8" studs, 1/2 Gypsum Wall Board (cementitious backer board), and 1/2" tiles (please note that a "Floor" was duplicated yo create this floor of the niche, and the floor was inserted on the floor plan at the correct height which is to bottom of the niche).

The ceiling of the niche was created with a compound ceiling of 1-5/8" studs, 1/2 Gypsum Wall Board (the cementitious backer board), and 1/2" tiles (composition similar to the walls and the floor, and this "Ceiling" was inserted on the Reflected Ceiling Plan at the height of the niche).

On the drawings of the plans, the side and rear walls are able to be joined with the "Wall Joints" icon of "Modify" (See attached Floor Plan of the Niche). 

1st question: The way that the floor and the ceiling of the niche were modeled in this example are the correct ways?  

The problem is with the section of the niche:  On section (see the attached section thru the niche), the vertical rear wall does not want to join with the floor of the niche, and the ceiling of the niche do not wants to join with this rear wall neither.  We would like these to join or to attach nicely, or to at least show on the section as these are proposed to be constructed.  

Assuming that there are other ways to construct the niche, so in section the rear wall, floor of the niche, and the ceiling of the niche joint nicely, 2nd question: what are the other ways to construct this niche?  Is there a "best way"?

I'd better use a Family by Face  as this one:

if the niche is within wall width ,then the solution is much simple - use just a void with parameters

I believe that the trouble with that niche void family is that it does not shows the composition of the niche walls when  a detail section is cut thru it, since this enlarged section detail is to be used for the construction drawings.

Do Revit allows us to draw a wall horizontally? 

Also, in Revit, how a wall can be drawn at an angle? (since the niche has to have a slope at the bottom).

If you're actually doing this using revit walls/floors/ceilings... don't. Build a family (wall based/face based/workplane based, or you could even do an entire shower floor based. Simply model the construct within it...

• a more elaborate solution could be by using  a Parametric Mass Family loaded into the Project combined with Wall Opening and then Wall by Face. Wall by Face can be applied to any angle except 0 (horizontal) - in my example I have a slope of 1% ....

More then sure that you'll have to play a little with Join tool in order to fix wall connection but at last you can solve it..

• Anyway, I prefer a Family by Face with incorporated Void ...it's much more simple and efficient...

Do you really need to show your contractor how to build every niche?

In my world, I only show location and dimensions for niches and bump outs. I have drafting details showing typical configurations to address framing, insulation, fire resistance, sound transmission, etc...
