Cut/Fill For Split Surface

I have a split surface that will not report cut/fill no matter what I do. I have tried starting a new file, and went through this process:

1. Create surface in Existing Phase

2. Split surface in Existing Phase

3. Grade split surface in New Phase by creating exact copy

4. Edit interior points BEFORE finishing the graded surface

Cut/Fill does not report

or 4. Edit surface AFTER finishing the graded surface

Cut/Fill does not report

This process seems to have worked for others, and it's not a setting in my file, because I tried it with a blank file, too. I've attached the file here. The only topo that matters here is the area around the house where you see survey data. Please help.

Also, I know what where I confused you. Split Surface's Graded Region Copy MUST reside in the Phase Created Phase.  It's quirky.  I forgot to mention that.  

Open attached file, go to Demo Phase and grade (edit surface) the "Existing" Split Surface.  Cut/Fill will report in Proprieties and Schedule. 

...just to explain what I did to correct, since you had some of it already done: I set all the Toposurface's Phase Created to "Existing" and Phase Demolished to "None". I then determined which Split Surface was the Original -- the one that would actually Merge with the Toposurface from which it was created, and then I deleted the other, duplicate Split Surface you had created (the one that would not Merge).

Yes, that is the solution I eventually came to after reading everything, including some of yours and ToanDN's previous posts about this exact issue. The wording to get there can be confusing so the video helps a lot.
