Creating Roof without walls on sloped columns

Hi!

I'm having trouble finding any resources or guides on creating a thin incline roof on columns. I've attached a screenshot of a drawing of what it looks like (The red proposed roof). 

I created the columns as shown in the second screenshot by offsetting them above level 1, not sure if this was the right way to go about it but didn't see any other way to get them the right height.

Would appreciate any help on this as I'm stumped!

Roof creation doesn't requires walls or columns.  Sketch roof boundary, define slope, close out of sketch mode -- and then raise or lower the roof as required.  Decide/Place Columns last. That would be easiest.
