Create Room Data Sheets from Room data?

I am looking to populate room data sheets from Rooms, masses or some other native Revit component.

Since these room data sheets are on actual pages, I am wondering what is the smartest way to have an auto populated sheet? Perhaps it is a complex tag associated with a room?

Any ideas on how to achieve this link between elements in Revit and smart room data sheets.

Are you talking about Revit's Room schedules or some external datasheet?  If the former then there is no question.  If the latter then I would use Revit's own DB Link tool to export the data to an Access or SQL database.  From there you can generate Room datasheet as Reports pretty easily in Microsoft Access.

Below is an example of a Report generated in Microsoft Access from DB Link information (Mass category in this case) - I did it in Revit 2015 and Access 2010.

Within Revit you could use the room and area book tools. There are 3rd party applets that will take your Revit data, and graphical views to create data sheets, such as Codebook (http://codebookinternational.org.uk/), while this was meant for health Planning we use it to generate our 'leasing outline plans for retails projects' it could also be used to create the data sheets for residential towers.

Hope this helps.

from someone who is not very familiar with access: why would it be better than excel? And would you still recommend it to generate room data sheets?

I am still considering, but I thought DB Link would work with excel as well?
