Confusing Family Type Material Edit

I have duplicated a material (let's name it A) to B and edited that material's color to gray(from white), It's a cladding material for walls as i remember, but as I apply the changes, the other family types that uses the "A" is also changed. I double-triple checked the other wall family types and selection of "A" and "B' but they act like just one material.  Anyone also encountered this? what could be causing this? thank you

When you duplicate the material it uses the same assets - you need to duplicate the assett or aquire a new one.

Hi,

Some additions to @Anonymous post, sorry for using you're image, hope it's ok.

At the hand icon there's a number, if 0, then no other material is using the asset.

If it's a 1 then 1 other material is using it etc...

Also, if you expand the section "information" you can rename the asset directly, after duplicating, the copy icon on the right.
