How to migrate the "Export to dwg settings" from a Revit 2019 project back to Revit 2018.

Actually we made an office template using Revit 2019, but now another project comes and it requires revit 2018.

How do I migrate the template settings backwards?

Unfortunately you can't migrate backwards with Revit.  You won't be able to save your 2019 template as a 2018 file.

is there any workaround?

i read there is a revit.ini file that stores all the export settings..

I'm a bit confused.  Are you trying to migrate your template backwards, or export drawings?  You should be able to import drawings exported from Revit 2019 into Revit 2018.

The CAD export settings is part of the template in 2019, which i need it now, in another project in 2018.

Aside from the export settings, all the other line styles/object style.. i guess i will have to rebuild them all is it correct?

Hi,

Uhm, could be done with the Revit API (DWGExportOptions.GetExportLayerTable )

The Standards are just plain old text files. Just load the 2019 Standard into 2018.

….is this what you are talking about?

Hi. Our office has customized the export settings. So it's different from the "standard"

Hi,

In my addins I can review the DWG export setting, from this I can make a plain text export.

This plain text document could be used to import the layer settings (as described by @barthbradley )

Only the other settings like units, layermodifiers have to be manually edited (the import only contains the 'direct' layer setting).

Let me know if you're interested.

@Anonymous ,

If you can send me a Revit project/template file with the DwgExport Settings, I will create the import file from it.

You can do a Project Transfer of the DWG setting to a Empty (Basic) Revit template.
