Column Grid Bubbles

Sometime last year there was a reply to one of my posts where I was asking how to get column bubbles to move with the crop box boundary. I can’t find that post, but I believe the solution had something do with making sure the bubbles had certain relationship to the crop box, and there was a second step to take. I just can’t remember, so does anyone know how to get the column bubbles to move once again with the crop box?

Are you referring to the datums' 2D and 3D extents behavior?

You can select the grids and assign a scope box from the properties. That constrained the 3d extent of them to the scope box. But it has little to none to do with how you exyend their 2d extent.

Believe it or not, I still don't I fully grasp what you mean by the datum's
2D and 3D extents behavior, since column bubbles only appear in 2D views.

In any case I am referring to when you initially create a view, a crop box
is created and the column bubbles are outside the box. When you stretch the
crop box, the bubbles move with it. If you change those bubbles' setting
from 3D to 2D and move them manually, they no longer move with the crop box.
A community member replied to me in a post (if I remember correctly), that
if you do something with the settings and make sure the crop box is in a
certain relationship with the bubbles, they will all move again. I just find
that post, nor replicate the behavior.

ToanDN - Please see my reply to Barth above. What I am trying to replicate
was done without using a scope box, which is also one of the things I've
never used, but will look into.

Thank you for looking, but that's not the one I was thinking about. It had
something to do with moving the crop box in a certain manner with respect to
the bubbles and changing them either from 2D to 3D, or vica versa and it
resulted in all the bubbles once again moving with the crop box.

When you create a view with a crop, the grids and levels switch to 2D extent to follow the size of the crop automatically. You can change the size of the crop and they will stretch themselves to match. But if you stretch them manually then they will lose the association with the crop forever. There is no way back unless you recreate the view.

Are you sure you don't mean scope box? I mean if you have a Scope Box assigned to the view, you can toggle "Crop View" to switch the bubbles back and forth between 2D and 3D extents.

No. I meant what I wrote.

Associate Grids and Levels to a Scope Box is to make sure all Grids and Levels having the same 3D Extent defined by the scope box, mostly used with a large scope box covers the entire extent of the project. It prevents users from alter the 3D extent of Grids and Levels. It has nothing to do with 2D Extent for views of partial plans, elevations, details, etc...

Barth - Nope, what I was thinking did not involve the scope box, but what
ToanDN described above is close to what I recall. Sorry to bring all this
up!
