Hello,
I have a model into which a number of houses (sub models) are linked.
Each sub model contains electrical components, such as sockets, the families for which comprise modeled elements and generic annotations.
I am unable to change the colour of generic annotations (in this case electronic symbols) nested within a component (electrical component) in the 'Master' Revit model.
This is important, as we colour code our M and E on drawing outputs and this limitation means we cannot do so.
Can anyone please help?
Some options I have already exhausted:
- Object styles: these have no effect on a nested symbol
- Override by elements to an alternative colour: this is not allowed for linked models

If possible, contact the author of that model, explain the problem, and ask them to modify those families.
If the color in that family does not mean anything in the current project, and if you are going to collaborate with that other firm for a while, you should still contact them and ask them to modify that family. That's what BIM standards are for. You shouldn't have to do this visibility setting things to correct a color that somebody is using without any meaning in the project.
