Change appearance of Generic Model

There are about 20 instances of a perforated metal balcony privacy screen that was originally made from a 3dm import.

As far as I can tell, revit is giving me no ways to change the appearance of the model.

Am I out of luck? I couldn't find it in object styles or in the browser, either.

I tried changing the one item set to render in Grey and it doesn't seem to have done the trick.

No issues here.  What is your view visual styles?  Are you sure you change the material for the correct layer?

Sorry, i meant to suggest that the item we are searching for is not in that list.

Pasted it into a new project.

It only responds to a change if I change the entire generic models category.

Solved by creating a part from the generic model.

Because you imported the 3DM in as a Direct Shape so there are no layers.  Import it in normally:

- Create a blank family or in place family

- Link CAD > choose the 3DM
