Cannot Overide Topo Surface Graphics Colour in View Template for Realistic View in Revit 2022

We have just moved from Revit 2020 in our office to 2022 and I'm going through checking everything has updated ok in our template and noticed that the Toposurface does not override even when you set a pattern/colour override setting on it.

See the images attached.

I've tried making a new template from scratch to see if it's an issue with upgrading the file between versions or not but that made no difference.

I've got the settings all the same but the topo in realistic mode still shows as grey even though I've told it to appear white.

Please can someone advise me on how to fix this because it looks horrendous with a big grey box under our elevations? We had it white so it blends in with the sheet it's placed on. And we can't not use the topo because otherwise, you'll see the sub walls/foundations on our houses.

Please help. It's driving me insane! Been googling for weeks and have not found anything.

Try crop view and adjust the crop region to cut the topography a bit.

Graphic Overrides have no affect on Realistic display, so I don't understand what you are trying to do through VGOs.

Regarding your screenshots, 2022 looks like the elements shown are being cut through, and 2020 looks like no elements are being cut.  If the gray-colored element being shown is the realistic 2022 screenshot is in fact a Toposurface, then that  coloring would be coming from the Poche that is assigned to the Topo through Site Settings. So, check the Appearance Tab of the Poche Material.

Regarding the  Toposurface in that 2020 Elevation View - if there is actually one in that View - it is displaying exactly as I would expect if it wasn't cut and had no relief (e.g. it was flat).

Lastly, there is a big difference between 2020  and 2020 Realistic. 2022 will never look exactly 2020.

Both 2020 and 2022 are being cut through, the topo surface has the same material applied to it on both too. The poche in the site settings are both identical in each as well.

Have you done a side-by-side comparison of the Graphic Display Options settings?

Well, like I said above, 2020 and 2022 Realistic is a night and day difference.  You'll never get an exact match.

I will add that the View may be corrupted - which happens more frequency, IME, with 2023 Realistic Views.  Have you tried recreating the View?

Yeah see this is what is weird... when I go new project and do the generic Autodesk architecture template and make an elevation with a topo and set that to realistic, the topo shows as white.... Something is just not quite working right and I don't understand or know how to fix it. I've done hotfix updates so there shouldn't be any bugs.

What shows as white? The poche?  Are you saying that the Topo is cut in Elevation and the poche is white?  Sounds like the poche has a Self-Illumination Property. Does it?

Yeah the poche
But no self-illumination on anything

Maybe if I looked at both RVTs, I'd be able to assist you better. Can you post them here?

I don't really want to post my company's Revit templates online in case people pinch stuff from it - can I send it to you privately?
