Cannot Edit Schedules in Revit 2019

Ever since we updated to Revit 2019 a few weeks ago I have not been able to modify any text parameter values in the cells inside any of my schedules. I can only modify the cells if I go into my families and edit the parameter values there, which takes waaaaaay longer.  It is happening to all my text parameters across all my schedules and families. It is really annoying.

This really needs a fix. I can't work a whole year like this.

Editing material schedules is fine, but any sort of type parameter does not work.

@jrfrost and @Anonymous: please provide something I can replicate on my end. Thus far, I'm not not able to.

Try editing a plumbing or door schedule in 2019. Many, not all, of the cells do not work. You have to open the item (e.g. a faucet) and edit it in the properties box in order for it to show up in the schedule. I agree. It is terribly annoying and needs to be fixed.

Yeah, 4 month later and I am still don't know what the grip is.  Maybe it's a real grip; maybe not. I just don't know.  But, I would like to know.  Care to share a specific example?

...yeah, still confused. I just tested. I can add and revise Type or Instant Parameters within Schedules for both Plumbing Fixtures and for Doors. I don't need to go into the Family's Properties to do that.  Works the same in 2019 as it always has  -- at least, as far as I can tell.  But, we haven't gone into production with 2019 yet. Maybe we'll discover the "glitch" you all are talking about when we do.

do you mean gripe?

I don't know how to share an example other than to describe the problem.

Use ENTER after editing the value. Sometimes you have to press ENTER twice.

...OKAY! You got me. Good catch, Professor!  But, still, I don't have a firm "grasp" on the problem.  Smiley Wink

Just saying...

Hitting enter after editing the cell works, but if you click your mouse anywhere (even to edit elsewhere in the same field you've been typing in) , it LOSES whatever you'd been typing. Also why in the world can't we get a cursor to appear in the schedule editor? Cursors have been around since AutoCAD v8 when I started using Autodesk products...

Thank you for the advice.
I am aware of the “enter“ thing. This schedule editing problem is unrelated to it. Unfortunately I cannot capture it in a screenshot, because there is nothing to show. It is definitely something with 2019. I have not experienced it before adopting 2019, and I use schedules extensively. I am wondering if it is a setting that has gone awry.
Thanks again for your help.

He may mean to say AutoCAD 2008.  People using AutoCAD v8 normally regard it as AutoCAD Release 8.

He could have meant version 2.6. Dunno. I didn't start Autocad until v9. I never ever heard of anyone refer to v8. Just sounded peculiar to me.

A user in my office is having this issue. They have the exact install as everyone else, a new install on a new PC, and the problem still exists. No one else is experiencing this. Have you found a fix to this? It's so annoying for this one user. It is not project specific either. The only thing I can think of is that Revit recognizes him due to his Autodesk login and he made the Revit gods mad... Any updates would be appreciated!!

Hi. Yes, I still have the problem. I showed it to a very experienced fellow Revit user who could not figure it out either. We speculated that this is an “improvement “ designed to keep file sharers from changing attributes in the schedule without regard for the model, thereby potentially damaging the model. It does not happen with every cell, but it does affect the main ones. I have to highlight the object then edit it in the editing box. It is a pain, but I have adjusted.

Thank you for the update! I found that the user only experienced this when they typed in the cell and tried to click out of it. It appears that the tab and enter options after entering data are working still. I guess it’s just limited to him as he must be the only one that didn’t hit enter or tab after the data entry. This just seems so odd. 😊

Indeed, Autodesk confirmed this clicking-away failure is a bug in 2019. Using the enter key to confirm data entry changes is the only workaround at the moment. With the latest 2019 version, if you zoom in on the schedule, the cursor will appear - this makes the bug almost tolerable since I can at least see what I’m about to do...

I’ll test on Revit 2020 today and report back if this is fixed! Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you for these helpful responses. I will try your workaround suggestions. Based on previous responses to this very old original post, I was led to believe I was the only one experiencing this problem and must be crazy! Thanks again.

I am not sure I follow your tip. First, I am not able to "zoom in" on a schedule. Second, when I hit "enter" while in a cell, it bumps me to the next cell.
