Can't annotate from post to post

I was able to do it up along the left side as you can see, but right now I'm working on the bottom left side.  At the left side I was able to use the aligned dimension tool and pick points from center to center of the posts and come up with the distance.  But when I try that with the bottom left corner between posts it just gives me the side line of post and it doesn't give a point.  I'm also concerned if i do that and try to change the dimension it won't follow the circle.

Revit will not allow aligned dimensions between lines that are not parallel. As you already noticed in some case a blue dot will show up and then you do dimensions between two points, which is Ok. As you already expect, when you change dimension it will move a long a straight line and not follow the circle.

Therefore with this kind of work you would use the rotate or maybe even better the circular array tool. You complete 1 section, making sure everything is in the right place and the rotate/array it x times around the circle.
