best way to create accurate roof construction detail?

I have created an accurate roof makeup (see below) my problem is where the fascia meets the roof construction. When i add the fascia to the roof construction it sits flush to it but obviously the tile/slate part should over sail the fascia. I have in the past just created a roof construction made up of the tile/slate part and then inset the fascia from the edge of it. This then means i need to go in and draw the roof construction when i create a section view, what am i doing wrong?

Detail drawings with Cut boundary can take care of that. If you want the model to be correct, which can be great or a waste of time depends on how you look at it, then create the top layer as a different roof and make it lapping the fascia.

hmm ok so if it was you, you would just create the roof construction as the tile or slate thickness and then offset the fascia in? or are you saying you don't add fascias to the 3D model at all? If you are using the 3D model for conceptual renders surely the model needs to be right? or am i missing something cheers

Two roofs, thick one below with a fascia, thin one on top cover both the one below and the fascia. Just how you build it.

But for production, I would just use detail drawings with Cut Profile.

yeah this does seem a long winded way of getting the result, a cutting fascia would be a nice idea 🙂

Or make the fascia short and turn it inside so it overlapping the lower portion portion of the roof edges.
