No Experience Required will really hold your attention. That book

is a must.

No Experience Required is easy to read and to follow, and fun at times too (read and learn as you do the work).  It is not very expensive and is readily (physically) available for perusing at some of the local bookstores, so you can look at it and feel it before you make a decision.

I will admit that the Paul Aubin books are hard to beat.

But I think most Revit experts would agree with me that if

any one Revit book author was to win the gold, that author

would be Daniel Stine.

Mastering Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013 by Read, Vandezande, Krygiel is

the foundation of any real Revit library.

...not to mention you can download the Families Guides from the autodesk website for nothing...

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

You are right Bob, about Autodesk learning materials.

If someone new to revit is a highly intelligent person, they

would most likely want to start and continue with anything

from Autodesk. Autodesk reading materials are actually

my most highly valued reading. And yeah it happens to

all be free.

If we as a school were to be switching from Stine because its not an acceptable publisher of an ebook for the school - what other good books would you recommend. Are there any published by say..wiley?  Also - what are you're thoughts of learning from ebooks rather than textbooks for revit?

Vector, the Daniel Stine book that you mention uses the Aubin's aproach to create a building from scratch?

Also I notice that Mr. Stine has several (i.e., Interior, Residential, Commercial...), if you or any one in the Newsgroup is familiar with these, which one would  be the best to start with?

Any new book on Revit (Architecture) has come out lately?

Funny you should ask. Just this week I published my new book:

Renaissance Revit: Creating Classical Architecture with Modern Software

This book is a family editor field guide of sorts that uses examples from classical and renaissance archtiecture as its backdrop. Here is the book page with more info:

http://paulaubin.com/books/renaissance-revit/

Here are some reviews:

http://www.cons4arch.com/pushing-the-limits-of-revit-creating-classical-architecture/

http://autodesk-revit.blogspot.com/2013/11/revit-renaissance.html

Also no one has mentioned the video training at lynda.com

Myself and Eric Wing have many Revit video courses there.

Thanks very much

Very kind of you to say.

I am hard at work on an update to this book. Look for an all new edition covering version 2016 in a month or two. Thanks!

I'd been advised by a REVIT consultant to use the Ascent fundamentals book as my learning tool. It is an autocad licensed group but at $90 + $15 shipping, it is not free. Which tutorial do you recommend for an experienced autocad user that wants to become proficient at revit?
